The four menstrual phases, explained simply

If you are new to cycle syncing, the vocabulary can feel like a lot. Here is the gentle version, in plain language. These are patterns many people tend to notice, not rules for your body.

Menstrual phase

This is your period. Energy is often lower, and many people feel like resting or moving gently. A calm walk or some easy mobility counts just as much as a full session. There is nothing to prove here.

Follicular phase

After your period, energy usually starts to climb back up. A lot of people find this a natural time to build a little, try something new, or add a bit more effort, if they feel up to it.

Ovulatory phase

For many, this is the strongest stretch of the cycle. It can be a good window for the sessions that ask the most of you. As always, everyone is different, so treat it as a suggestion, not a target.

Luteal phase

In the days before your next period, energy can taper off for some people. Steady, kinder sessions often feel best. Rest days are completely welcome here.

The honest part

These descriptions are averages. Your body is not an average. The only way to know how you respond is to log what you actually do and look at your own pattern over a few cycles. That is exactly what Lunia is for: it tags every session with your phase and shows you the truth, with the error bars left in.

See your own pattern, not a hormone theory.

Lunia is a free, cycle-aware training log. Log your sessions and watch how you actually perform across your cycle.
